Grammys feature fantastic live performances
Beyonce, Bruno Mars rock the house at annual music awards show

The Grammys, which aired Sunday, featured several outstanding performances that will likely stay on everyone’s minds.
Everyone was looking forward to Beyonce’s performance, especially since she announced she was pregnant with twins. The performance she gave was everything people wanted and more. Her performance was simple yet beautiful. She performed “Love Drought” and “Sandcastles” from the “Lemonade” album. Most of her performance centered around motherhood. When she won a Grammy for Best Urban Contemporary Artist later in the evening, her speech made it clear that she wanted to improve women’s lives.
Katy Perry’s performance of her new single “Chained to the Rhythm” featured one of the coolest sets seen in a long time. The set was designed to be taken apart and reassembled around the moving, slanted stage. She also had the word “Persist” written on her left sleeve, her way of subtly telling people to protest. However, towards the end, she got less subtle and more political, projecting the Constitution onto pieces of the house.
Bruno Mars’ tribute to Prince not only showed us how much we will miss the former rock star, but also brought the house down. He came out in a sparkly, purple suit that melted all the ladies’ hearts, and his guitar solo only made it better. He performed “Let’s Go Crazy,” leaving the entire audience wanting more.
Adele’s tribute to George Michael had a hiccup, but ended up being soulful. It was obvious that he meant a lot to her, which is why she had them start over for her when she stumbled in the opening lines of the song. Asking an awards show to start over isn’t usually heard of, but no one questioned Adele when she did it.
While there was some controversy when it came to awards, all of the performances were flawless. The most memorable part of the Grammys is the performances, so to put out such a stellar number this year is commendable and appreciated.
