2018 Grammy nominations released
November 30, 2017
Grammys season is in session and music fanatics around the globe are excited to see their favorite artists get the recognition they deserve.
It’s clear the academy had their favorites this year. Jay Z received eight nominations, Kendrick Lamar received seven, Bruno Mars got six and Childish Gambino got five, with Jay Z and Mars dominating in the most noteworthy categories.
Jay Z’s 13th studio album “4:44” was released in June and people were glad the four-year hiatus was over. The 47-year-old rap artist is still producing content and that’s music to his audience’s ears. Jay Z has proved himself time and time again, so it only makes sense he would come out on top in this year’s nominations.
Bruno Mars surprised everyone this summer with the release of “24K Magic.” The album featured such hits as “24K Magic” and “That’s What I Like,” which are both nominated. The artist performed at last year’s Grammys with a tribute to Prince. The performance showed his true talent and reminded audiences why they love his music.
One of the most heated conversations has to do with the nominees — even the ones who weren’t included in this year’s nominations. Some are complaining about the lack of inclusion of recent releases such as Sam Smith’s “The Thrill of it All” and Taylor’s Swift’s “Reputation.” However, fear not for they can be included in the 2019 Grammys.
And of course, let’s not forget the performances that result from the award show. With intriguing pieces from Beyoncé, The Weeknd, and Katy Perry, last year’s awards were anything but boring. With the nominees this year, there’s hope that the performances will be even better.
James Corden has come back to host, and people are far from disappointed. The former Broadway star and current late-night host has worked his way into audience’s hearts and souls, especially when he’s hosting.
With incredible nominees, a charming host and out-of-this-world performances, the 2018 Grammys are sure to be a hit.
The 60th annual Grammys air at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 28 on CBS.
