With this season’s win under the football team’s belt, seniors and freshmen alike can’t help but ask; “Who are this year’s student section leaders?

Melody Henry, Cole Brantley, and Cobe Gourd have decided to take on the challenge. Unlike in past years, there are three section leaders, compared to the traditional two and all three members are seniors.
Melody Henry is the first female section leader in Braswell history. She is a member of the Bravo Company, and director of BHS Now, the school’s broadcast program.
“I was extremely excited and surprised,” Henry said after hearing the news.“I ran into fifth block and was like ‘Cole! We’re student section leaders!”
Araque: What’s your motto for the student section?
Henry: Be there, be loud.
Araque: What steps can people who want to be section leaders in the future take to be recognized?
Henry: Show out every game, be positive, be loud, and actually care about the games.
Araque: What are your goals for the student section this year?
Henry: Keep the momentum and make every game special.
Araque: What can students do to be more involved in the student section?
Henry: Dress up all the way and come in with a positive attitude. The worst thing you can do is go in and complain.
Cobe Gourd plays for the Braswell varsity baseball team. He hopes students will go all out at every game.
“I was really excited and overwhelmed because of all the stuff I have to do [now],” Gourd said when he found out about being student section leader.
Araque: What are you most excited for this year?
Gourd: Making the student section loud and involved.
Araque: What are your goals for the student section this year?
Gourd: To make it the best it ever was.
Araque: What do you want to change compared to previous years?
Gourd: Definitely, when people are quiet in the section. Especially when the section leaders are quiet. I’d like to change that.
Cole Brantley is the final student section leader. He is in the school’s choir and is the sports reporter for BHS Now.
“It was awesome! Me and Melody did a chest bump when we found out,” Brantley said.
Araque: What do you want to change this year?
Brantley: I want there to be more chants and I want people to be more involved. We shouldn’t just be going to the homecoming football games, we
should go to every game for every sport.
Araque: What are you most excited for this year?
Brantley: The football team we have this year. I think we have a chance of making the playoffs.
Araque: What can students do to be more involved in the student section?
Brantley: Dress up to the themes, and always be screaming the chants and stuff at the games.
Each student section leader has ideas and plans for how to make the 2019-2020 student section the best in Braswell history. All that’s left is for the students to show up, show out, and give their all.
