Maleficent: Mistress of Evil

“This is no FAIRY TALE.”
“Well Well,” welcome to a dark, simple story of Good v.s. Evil by director Joachim Ronning of “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” as he so remarkably exhibits the extension of a magical fairytale the world has come to love.
When Princess Aurora comes to marry the charming & young Prince Philip, she obliviously puts her ruling fairy-godmother, Maleficent, and her newly attained kingdom so unintentionally in harm’s way. Can Maleficent bring herself to stand up with power?
Thanks to the powers bestowed upon her by Maleficent herself (played by Angelina Jolie of Maleficent), young Princess Aurora (played by Elle Fanning of The Neon Demon), stands with supernatural pride now ruling the dominion of her Middle Kingdom for the fairies and woodland creatures five years after the death of King Stefan.
However, her deep love for Philip (played by Harris Dickinson of The Darkest Minds), has begun to set off a groundbreaking chain of eventful moments between the native fairy folk and the local villagers with many lives and destruction brought at stake.
When little shapeshifter, Raven Diaval (played by Sam Riley of Pride, Prejudice, + Zombies), overhears Aurora accepting the Prince’s marriage proposal, he quickly informs Maleficent who warns Aurora of the dangers that have a possibility of occurring if their romance ends badly.
Trying to see past her warning, Aurora invites Maleficent to dine pleasantly during her presentation to Philip’s parents. Maleficent tries to keep her composure on the night of the dinner, but fails to do so and loses her temper after Queen Ingrith (played by Michelle Pfeiffer of Dark Shadows), disbands her relationship with Aurora.
She later flees in despair without Aurora after she refuses her claim of innocence. Yet, her attempt to escape immediately fails when she falls into the ocean after being wounded by a bullet from a nearby servant.
Afterward, Maleficent wakes up to the quiet location of a dark ocean cavern, where she is later discovered by a group of horned, winged fairies of her own kind; The Dark Freys. She was later rescued by their peaceful leader, Conall (played by Chiwetel Ejiofor of 12 Years a Slave), who has stumbled Maleficent upon the fact she is one of the last living Dark Freys. It does not, however, change the fact Conall believes she is an instrumental weapon to end the conflict with the humans. Whether it is by peace or by war.
Meanwhile, while Aurora has become delighted each day closer to her wedding with Philip. On the day of the wedding, she is startled to learn that Ingrith has been secretly plotting to do away with all the fairies and woodland creatures by the creation of a crimson powder that would kill them instantly.
Scared that Maleficent will come to be an innocent victim, Aurora’s thoughts transfer to her three pixie guardians (Knotgrass, Flittle, and Thistlewit), who ultimately begin to save all of the Moors creatures as the ceremony commences. Ending with a brave selfless sacrifice by Flittle.
At the same time, Maleficent, with her channeled power and the Dark Freys, begin to launch a battle against the humans of Ulstead. She nearly manages to come across her victory against Ingrith and her well-brought soldiers when Aurora stops Maleficent to reassure her that she is her mother. As the two begin to harmonize, Ingrith attempts to disrupt their moment with an arrow towards Aurora, but Maleficent makes a stop to the arrow and dissolves into the ashes.
Ingrith declares herself back to the ruler of the middle kingdom as Aurora weeps in despair full of guilt that she couldn’t stop her loss. She comes to rejoice in minutes when her tears rain over the ashes and Maleficent is reborn. The queen herself is later transformed into a goat as punishment for her crimes, and Philip makes up for the damages to the fairies in a peace pact between the moors and the humans.
Aurora and her prince are given the blessing by Maleficent as they become wed. She later flies away with her leadership role over the Dark Freys, promising she will be back for the christening of their future child. In other words, “wicked is always relatable.”
Rise and stand! Once upon a dream. A second tale told over and over again on the Big Screen throughout the kingdom. Maleficent becomes evil once more. It’s only terrible to have nothing on which to prick a finger, so KEEP CALM and “listen well all of you.”
Maleficent 2: Mistress of Evil opened Friday, October 18th. There are two sides to every story, and not a day shall pass that a gift will not be bestowed upon all Disney fans.
