Top 5 movies to put on your summer watch list
Dunkirk
“Dunkirk” is about allied soldiers from Britain, Belgium, Canada and France. They were surrounded by the German Army on the beaches of Dunkirk, and evacuated in Operation Dynamo between May 26 and June 4, 1940. Set during the early stages of the Second World War, and directed by Christopher Nolan, who helmed “Inception” and the “Dark Knight” trilogy, the movie boasts incredible cinematography, dialogue and score. Dunkirk also stars some familiar faces, including Tom Hardy from “Mad Max:Fury Road,” and Harry Styles, a member of the band One Direction. Nolan has directed some of the best movies we know today, and this one will likely do nothing to tarnish his stellar reputation.

The Mummy
“The Mummy” is making a comeback this June with one of Hollywood’s biggest action stars, Tom Cruise. The movie hasn’t officially declared whether it will be a remake or sequel, but for people who are infatuated with the series’ previous entries, anything will do. The trailer shows Cruise doing several dangerous stunts that are sure to thrill. In addition to Cruise, the movie stars Sofia Boutella from “Star Trek: Beyond.” The up-and-coming star has only been in two blockbuster movies, with this as her third. A mix of old and new faces should encourage audiences to see the film.

It’s an entirely new world based on a French comic book series, and directed by Luc Besson, who helmed “Taken”. The trailer gives a sneak peek into a movie that is packed with futuristic technology and space culture. The movie stars Dane Dehaan and Cara Delevingne, who are sent on a mission by their superiors to a planet that is always expanding. With an intriguing story and cast, “Valerian” is a must-see.

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword
“King Arthur: Legend of the Sword” is based on Arthurian legend, telling the story of how Arthur rose to power. But unlike the more Disney-esque versions of the story, director Guy Ritchie’s seemingly darker take may appeal more to grown-up audiences. With Ritchie — who helmed the “Sherlock Holmes” series — directing, it’s bound to be an action packed, fantasy-filled adventure.
