The Braswell Bengals took on the Guyer Wildcats on Thursday night at C.H. Collins, facing a tough 41-20 loss on the road. Despite a hard-fought football game, the Bengals couldn’t overcome the Wildcats, who have now posted four victories this season by margins of more than 20 points.
Guyer quarterback Kevin Sperry kept up his impressive performance streak, completing 16 passes for 255 yards and scoring on a rushing touchdown. Dj Black added to Guyer’s tally with two touchdowns of his own. Braswell also struggled with ball security, losing two fumbles under pressure from Guyer’s Zane Rowe and Khyren Haywood.
With the win, Guyer improved to a 7-3 record this season, winning four of their last five games and maintaining an average victory margin of 25.8 points. Meanwhile, Braswell’s season now stands at 2-8, with the team on a six-game losing streak.
The loss to Guyer concludes the Bengals’ 2024 season.
The Bengals end the season with a 1-6 district run, 2-8 overall record in their new 5-6A district competing against Coppell, Denton Guyer, Lewisville, Lewisville Flower Mound, Lewisville Hebron, Lewisville Marcus and Little Elm.
