On Monday, February 14, the Braswell Lady Bengals will face the Hebron Lady Hawks in the first round of the girls basketball state playoffs at The Colony High School. The Lady Bengals finished first in their 5-6A division with a record of 12-0 while the Lady Hawks finished fourth in the 6-6A devision with a record of 8-7.
The team ended off the season against Allen and won 52-30. Lake Dallas finished their season a 59-47 loss against Plano. Head Girls Basketball Coach Lisa Williams has the right mindset going into the game.
“‘Nothing worth having comes easy!’,” Williams said. “We are prepared for just about anything thrown our way. It’s all about how we respond. One game at a time, one possession at a time!”
Coach Williams also knows the team has to work together in order to make it far in the playoffs.
“This group of young ladies is special,” Williams said. “I have witnessed growth from each of them both on and off the court. Most importantly, they have learned how to trust each other and work together to reach our goals. Working hard is not an option; however, with UNITY, loyalty, discipline, accountability, responsibility….anything is possible! #believeyoubelong #NoLimits”
The Lady Bengals finished their regular season at 31-2 and the Lady Hawks ended 20-13, so fans should expect a great game and watch both teams give it their all.
The Colony High School is located at 4301 Blair Oaks Dr. The Colony, TX 75056. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students.
