Tayler Daniels, the school’s new theatre teacher, desribes himself as enthusiastic and passionate, especially when it comes to theatre.

“I’ve always loved theatre since I was young. It was the only thing I wanted to do,” Daniels said.

In high school, Daniels had a theatre teacher who inspired him. During senior year because of his teacher, he realized theatre is what he wanted to do.

“He let me direct one of the main stage shows, and I got to teach a production class, and it really solidified what I wanted to do,” Daniels said.

Daniels favorite thing about teaching is helping passionate kids learn about theatre.

“As soon as I learn something, I want to run back and tell my kids,” Daniels said.

He also enjoys helping kids discover what they want to be in the future.

“My favorite thing is college audition,” he said. “I like helping them get prepared for the next steps in their lives, whether it be in theatre or they want to do something else.”

Daniels is excited to work at a high school since  “the program here is bigger and there are more classes,” he said.

“It’s really nice to have more access to more students,” Daniels said. “We really get to do theatre that would happen in the real world. So in middle school, you have to do a lot of children’s theatre; in here, you actually get to do what I consider to be theatre, like the things I worked on in college, so it’s nice to share everything about my passion with all of my students.”

He hopes this year is a good year and that he will learn and grow with his students.

“I think that we have a really good season, we have really awesome kids and a really incredible program,” Daniels said. “I expect us to grow. I want us to get stronger and have more people involved and to do bigger shows.”
