From the page to the big screen

If you like books, or movies, or books turned into movies, then you are in luck.
Of course, most movies are directly from books, or at least resemble them. Movies like this includes the Twilight saga, the Divergent series, The Hunger Games trilogy, and so forth.
These books that I am going to list are not only going to be turned to movies you should definitely plan to see; these books are brilliant stories that you should go read immediately, because not only are they going to be projected on the big screen, but they are exceptional works of art.These are books that you should read, whether you are a book nerd, or not.
And here, I present to you: Five books that are being made into movies (which you should look out for and go read right now before the movie’s release).
- Every Day by David Levithan
I read this book a few years ago, completely awestruck when they recently announced that it was set to be a movie. My friend randomly sent me the Youtube video of the trailer, and I screamed out in excitement during class.
Every Day is about a well… A. A is a soul rather than a person, who obtains no true body, including no true gender. A wakes up each day in a different body and has lived this way all of their life, making sure the person that they are in control for that day lives a decent life for that specific day.
Until A meets Rhiannon and everything changes.
This book is not only a beautiful story, but it is beautifully written.
The movie, directed by Michael Sucsy, is set to release February 23, 2018
2) Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
Once again, I read this book a year ago, and then a few months later, I found that it was going to be made into a movie. In a way, this book was written to be a movie, with intensely detailed scenes, and vivid imagery. From the opening page, everything about this book came to life.
This book is my third favorite novel, and as a lot of people know, I am an avid reader, so this is a big deal.
The book is set in 2044, and the world is a much different place. People’s only escape is through the OASIS, a virtual reality system filled with worlds of all sorts. People can make their own avatar, and be someone else.
When the creator of the OASIS dies, he leaves a fortune behind, and in order to obtain this fortune, as well as become CEO of the OASIS, the players have to individually overcome obstacles and retrieve eggs, all of which are reflecting 80s pop culture. The protagonist, Wade Watts, miraculously finds the first clue, and therefore, the hunt begins.
This movie, directed by Steven Spielberg, is set to release March 29, 2018.
3) A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle
I will admit–I’ve never read this book. But, it is on my to-be-read list, and it looks amazing, so that’s something, right?
The premise of the book is that a young girl is transported through time, with the help of her friends, in order to rescue her dad, who is trapped by evil forces on another planet.
This book is an all-time classic that should definitely not be overlooked.
The movie, directed by Ava DuVernay, is set to release March 9, 2018
4) Mortal Engines by Philip Reeve
This is another book that I have yet to read, but I did, in fact, receive this book as a Christmas present. It is on my to-be-read, which means I’ll get to it… eventually.
Mortal Engines is set in the future, and the earth has become unstable. Cities and towns have been mounted on large machines, and they travel the world. Major cities, such as London, will swallow small towns, like Framlingham, in order to steal resources and workers. This book carries an incredible concept, and the movie trailer looks stunning.
This movie, directed by Christian Rivers, is set to release December 14, 2018.
5) Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
I read this 540-page book in just a few days, and it left me in tears. Every inch of this novel was beautiful, and it’s almost hard to explain how much I loved it.
The book centers around two sisters during World War 2, Isabelle and Vianne, and their own separate journeys. Isabelle is brave and dedicates her life to helping soldiers, and Vianne’s husband left for war, so she and her daughter struggle to survive once their French town is overcome by German soldiers, and their food supply is low. And even though the sisters are separated for a duration of the novel, they remain side-by-side nonetheless.
This movie, directed by Michelle MacLaren, is set to release in 2019.
