As auditions for the fall show “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) [revised] [again]” wrap up, Braswell theatre students are preparing to take the stage in a fast-paced, hilarious production that squeezes all 37 of Shakespeare’s plays into one energetic performance.
The play brings a creative twist to classic literature by blending comedy, improvisation and audience interaction. It’s a chance for students to showcase not only their acting skills but also their ability to think on their feet and connect with the crowd.
Many of the cast and crew are experienced performers who have spent years refining their craft both onstage and behind the scenes.
One of those students is junior Niklas Lindlau, who has taken part in numerous Braswell productions in both acting and technical roles.
“I’ve enjoyed all of the shows I’ve participated in at Braswell, from Blithe Spirit and Mamma Mia! to Spelling Bee and Our Town,” Lindlau said. “The ability to express your creativity and have a safe community where you can be yourself with your friends is what keeps me coming back.”
For freshman Braedyn Bates, this production marks one of his first major experiences with the Braswell theatre department. He admitted he’s a bit nervous about how he is going to do in tech but said the excitement outweighs the nerves.
“Being someone else that’s not me sometimes and acting,” Bates said. “It was fun playing three different characters [in a previous show, The Struggles], and their emotions.”
With a mix of returning veterans and fresh new talent, the Braswell theatre department is ready to deliver a show filled with laughter, creativity and Shakespearean chaos—all in one unforgettable performance.
Performances will be held Oct. 23 – 25 in the Braswell High School Auditorium. Tickets will be available at the door and online through the Braswell Theatre website, braswelltheatre.com.
