As I sit down to write this letter, it’s hard to believe my time with The Bengal Beat is coming to a close. Serving as Co-Editor-in-Chief for the past two years has been one of the most memorable and rewarding experiences of my high school career. I’ve been part of this program for three years, and when I first joined, I had no idea how much it would shape me. Looking back now, it’s incredible to see how much both the publication and I have grown since that first year.
Over the years, Newspaper became one of the classes I looked forward to most. It wasn’t always easy — there were stressful deadlines, last-minute stories, and plenty of moments where we had to figure things out as we went — but that’s part of what made it so meaningful. Watching our staff grow and seeing each edition come together made every challenge worth it.
For the past two years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as Co-Editor-in-Chief alongside an incredible staff that constantly inspired me with their creativity, dedication, and passion. Every experience, whether successful or challenging, helped shape not only this publication, but also the person I’ve become.
Working alongside my best friend, Kylie West, as Co-Editor-in-Chief made this year even more special. Since our first year in the program, we’ve learned so much through trial and error, and now we’re finally seniors putting together our Senior Edition — something that still feels unreal. From the beginning, we wanted people to recognize The Bengal Beat and genuinely enjoy the stories we worked so hard to tell, and I truly believe we accomplished that this year.
This publication would not exist without the dedication of every staff member who poured their time, effort, and heart into it. Thank you to the staff for making every day memorable, every class enjoyable, and every success meaningful. And thank you to our readers for supporting student journalism and allowing us to tell the story of this school year.
To the future staff of The Bengal Beat: continue asking questions, continue being creative, and continue telling the stories that matter. The work you do leaves a lasting impact, even when you may not realize it. And to anyone considering joining Newspaper — do it. You do not have to be an amazing writer to belong here. You learn so much along the way, and you become part of something incredibly rewarding.
The Bengal Beat has been such an important part of my high school experience, and I will always be grateful that I had the opportunity to be part of it.
After high school, I plan to attend UNT and pursue a career in animation and digital arts.
Out of all of my high school memories, my favorite memory would definitely be my last spring concert with the B-Well Wind Symphony. Even though I’ve performed in it the last three years, everything felt different being a senior.
